Blue Lagoon’s mission is to promote wellness and energy for life through forces of nature. Using science and nature in harmony, we harness the incredible health-giving properties of Blue Lagoon and its active ingredients: geothermal seawater, minerals, silica and algae.
The Blue Lagoon was accidentally formed in 1976 during operation at the nearby geothermal power plant. In the years that followed, people began bathe in the unique water and apply the silica mud to their skin. Those with psoriasis noticed an incredible improvement in their condition. Over the years,
Blue Lagoon has been innovative in harnessing this gift of nature to develop different spa services and products. Today, Blue Lagoon is recognized as one of the wonders of the world.
Blue Lagoon is based upon an amazing gift of nature: our unique source of geothermal seawater. Therefore everything we do is driven by a respect for the natural environment. We are proud to be a leading company in terms of green thinking and to be 100% powered by clean geothermal energy.
We see Blue Lagoon as a part of an ecocycle, where nature and science work in harmony, with as little environmental impact as possible. Blue Lagoon is a part of the Svartsengi Resource Park – a concept based on ecological balance, economic prosperity and social progress.
